If you’re leaving an Amazon Review from your kindle, it couldn’t be easier; you just finish the book and on the last page that handy, dandy pop-up shows up asking you how many stars you want to rate the book you just finished and after you do so, it prompts you to leave some review text and away you go! It’s pretty awesome.
Now, if you happen to be a member of a review team or have gotten your copy of whatever you’re reading from somewhere other than amazon, and you’ve placed it on your device, I don’t believe you’ll be prompted to review it from within your device or app.
The good news, is that it’s still easy to leave an Amazon review. As long as you have an account at Amazon and have purchased something with them (anything – doesn’t matter if it’s book s or not) you can leave a review for a book on Amazon, regardless of whether or not that book was purchased through them.
You just navigate to the book page from a web browser (such as: Google, Firefox, Safari, Bing, etc) on your computer or tablet . *You can also navigate to the author’s page on Amazon and then select the appropriate book from there. I’ll leave a link to the book page for my novel, Jizziebelle: Belle of the Burlesque, so you have an example: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CV11842
Now, you’re going to have to scroll down and find the ‘Customer Reviews’ section, all the way down past the book title and description then past ‘Editorial Reviews’, ‘From the Author’, ‘Product Details, and ‘More About the Author’ – whew! That was a workout! But we’re finally at the ‘Customer Reviews’ section.
There should be a button there that says, ‘Write a customer review’. You just have to click on that and Amazon will prompt you for the information they need. They will need you to select your start rating and provide a text review and title for your review before you submit your Amazon review.
There’s even more good news – leaving a review on Goodreads is just as simple!
Simply log into your Goodreads account and find the book that you want to review by typing the name into the search box.
Here is Jizziebelle’s Goodread’s page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/32716709-jizziebelle-the-belle-of-burlesque
Once you’re on the book page, you’ll see a row of stars to click on, below the book cover image, to give the book your rating.
After you select your rating a tiny pop-up appears asking if you would like to leave a review.
Anyone who has a Goodreads account can leave a review on Goodreads. It doesn’t matter where you bought or borrowed the book from, or if it was a freebie or gift (or even if you’ve read the book – I know, that totally bonkers, but it’s true).
After you click on ‘Write a review’, a new page will come up with a place to enter and save your text review.
It’s as easy as that!
If you’re someone who’s been on the fence about submitting book reviews, because you think it’s too difficult or takes up too much of your time, I hope this blog has helped to put some of those fears to rest.
